A message from Heather
We are each unique, and my story and path won’t be like yours. But I do know that you deserve to thrive. And the world needs you!
So many of us are overwhelmed and burned out, just when we need all our energy and creativity to find the opportunity amidst so much change.
I started ThinkFRESH because I’m passionate about fostering the growth and wellbeing of all the leaders and givers around me who are “holding up the sky”, and are getting pretty tired. I see you!
Ko wai au? (Who am I?)
I’m an American Kiwi, a midlife newlywed married to a Hawke’s Bay man, a mother and stepmother, a recent gardening convert, a sewist, and a singer-songwriter. I love to dance with abandon.
I come from a long line of feisty, spicy, creative women of integrity. Adventure is in my blood, and over 20 years ago I moved to Dunedin New Zealand from the Rocky Mountain state of Colorado with my little family, so I could train to be a midwife.
Now I live in Hawke’s Bay NZ, near the beach and at the feet of Te Mata Peak. I mihi (give respect) to Ngati Kahungunu who are mana whenua here.
Working with mothers and babies and families, I witnessed the power of women every day, and also the challenges of balancing self-care with caring for others. Over the years, I have added to my nursing and midwifery skills, training in:
Coaching (lifestyle medicine and mental health)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
System design thinking
Peace and Conflict Studies
ThinkFRESH grew out of listening to women leading at work, in their families and in their communities, who feel stuck between their deep desire to serve others, and their deep need to nourish themselves.
I wanted to create a space where we can figure out how to do this better — how to be both the change we need, and not lose ourselves along the way. How to centre our own joy, growth and pleasure, as we create purposeful communities that create new possibilities for the world.
It takes clarity, support, and new perspectives, to get unstuck and step into more joy and meaning.
I want to share what I know after recalibrating in midlife. In my 50s, I’ve reclaimed joy, made friends with my body, said “no more” to patterns that held me hostage, and said a big juicy “yes” to new possibilities in my personal and professional life.
I believe the world needs women who are leading, and serving, in their families, communities, and organisations, to develop badass self-care superpowers that unlock our transformative power for the benefit of ourselves and society.
You’re not alone!
Let me know when you’re ready to begin …
Heather
